Sonja

'Daily activity with the kids keeps me busy. I am on the move all day long, playing with the kids, taking care of our home and doing all this on the side of my day job.'

Sonja has heard about osteoporosis becoming more and more common, but thought that she would not qualify for the risk group. She has always used a lot of dairy products and has not been underweight. She has not done sports actively since high school, but figures that the day-to-day chores would keep her bones in condition.

In a minor accident in the garden, where Sonja stumbles over toys of the children, she hurts her leg. The injury does not seem serious, but the x-ray shows a hair fracture in her shinbone. The doctor recommends a bone density measurement, which shows that her bone density is lower than the average in her age group.

She recovers quickly and with a new bone exercise monitor finds new ways to get the right kind of exercise. Sonja delegates some of the home tasks to her husband, who was alarmed by the accident. Now Sonja is enthusiastic about all activities that show on her monitor - she has started to jump and play with her kids, and this counts.
